Discipleship is when a follower of Jesus helps someone else to follow Jesus. As Christians we are all called to both be disciples and to make disciples. Disciple making is not an optional extra for us as Christians but something Jesus commands,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19–20

To be faithful to what Jesus is saying here we all need humility. Humility to seek help from others so that we can grow, and humility to actively help others in their journey.

Though discipleship occurs across all of our church life together, at Sovereign Grace we've produced a discipleship resource to help foster targeted discipleship within our church community. You can download it for free here. To use the resource simply:

  1. Find someone in our church of the same gender who you respect and admire.
  2. Ask them if they would like to disciple you.
  3. Select a topic you would like to be discipled in and chose one (or more) of our recommended resources.
  4. Find a time and rhythm that works best for both of you and plan out the dates ahead of time.

NOTE: If you’d like to be discipled but you’re having trouble finding someone to ask, please contact your GC leader or one of the pastoral team.
