Pray For Our New Members
Chuck Colson writes,
'Of course every believer is part of the Universal Church, but for any Christian who has a choice in the matter, failure to cleave to a local Church is failure to obey Christ. For it is only through a confessing local body of believers that we carry out the work of the Church in the world. It is within the local Church that we commit ourselves to intimate relationships with fellow believers and submit ourselves to accountability, duties and responsibilities. In this community our Christian character is shaped and it is the context in which our spiritual gifts are developed and exercised.'
It is with great joy then, that over the next two Sunday's we are going to be taking thirty folk into membership. Their stories to this point are many and varied, and yet their desire to 'cleave to a local Church' is constant throughout. And so what a joy it is to have these folk join us, to be added to our number, and to stand with us as we seek to build a community of people who are passionate about knowing, applying and proclaiming the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. How kind of the Lord!
I want to encourage you to then to please pray for them. As they settle in, please pray for three things in particular...
1. That they quickly find a home in their new life groups.
2. That they find real joy in the serving roles they've signed up for.
3. That they very quickly feel a part of the family that is Sovereign Grace Church.
